Broad Acre Stables operated as a successful racehorse training yard up until March 2012. Nestled into the rolling countryside surrounding the Severn Valley, it has now been converted into a Tea Room offering plenty of landscaped outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Shropshire countryside.
Having trained racehorses for over 20 years, Mark and Lisa Wellings decided to opt for a different lifestyle. The racing has been a passion for many years and yielded many winners over jumps and latterly on the flat. The most prolific winner was Little Richard who won 13 races and was placed in over 60 % of his 105 career starts. As a tribute to his success, his portrait is painted on a wall of the tea room along with a few other memories of the racing years.
Having retired from professional horse racing, Mark and Lisa decided to convert the buildings into the current tea room to offer an idyllic setting for visitors, walkers, cyclists and horse riders to sit and enjoy the peaceful setting that is Broad Acre Stables.
